Anambra Govt, Flutterwave partner on digital economy expansion

Anambra State Partners with Flutterwave to Enhance Digital Economy
The Anambra State Government has announced a new partnership with Flutterwave, a leading payments technology company, to enhance its digital economy framework. This collaboration aims to scale e-commerce activities, strengthen digital payments, and expand market access for businesses throughout the state.
In a statement on April 22, 2026, Governor Chukwuma Soludo characterized the partnership as a strategic initiative to formalize and develop Anambra’s emerging e-commerce ecosystem. He emphasized that the project seeks to create new opportunities for traders, artisans, and small business owners.
The partnership is designed to connect local enterprises to broader national and global markets, facilitating seamless transactions and bolstering the digital presence of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in commercial areas such as Onitsha, Nnewi, and Awka.
Governor Soludo highlighted Flutterwave’s reputation under the leadership of co-founder and CEO Gbenga ‘GB’ Agboola, praising its role as a significant driver of fintech innovation in Africa. “Flutterwave has demonstrated how homegrown technology can solve real African challenges at scale. This collaboration is about empowering our people to transact, grow, and compete beyond borders,” he said.
The initiative will focus on digitizing payment systems for small businesses, integrating logistics with payment platforms, and onboarding more traders to online marketplaces, thereby improving operational efficiency and market reach.
Flutterwave has gained global recognition for its transformative impact on Africa’s fintech sector, particularly through its cross-border payment solutions, which enable businesses to compete more effectively in the digital economy.
Governor Soludo reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to providing the necessary infrastructure for young entrepreneurs, stating, “Government is laying the foundation so our youths can build and scale their ideas without barriers.”
He also urged members of the Anambra diaspora to engage with the state’s expanding digital landscape and invest in its evolving technology-driven economy.
With this partnership, Anambra State is positioning itself as a significant digital commerce hub in Nigeria, leveraging innovation to connect local businesses with international markets, “one transaction at a time.”
