APC Chieftain Escapes Mob Attack in Lagos Market

LAGOS — Joe Igbokwe, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), narrowly escaped a mob incident on Friday at the bustling Ladipo Market in Lagos State.

In a video posted to his official Facebook account on Saturday, Igbokwe recounted the events leading up to the confrontation. He stated that he had visited the market to purchase vehicle spare parts when he was recognized by a group of youths.

According to Igbokwe, the situation escalated as he attempted to fix his car. “While I was looking for the parts, some people began calling my name and pointing at me,” he said. “I initially ignored them, but soon, the crowd began to gather, shouting, ‘This is Igbokwe! So you think you can come to this market?’”

Feeling threatened, Igbokwe sought refuge in a friend’s shop as the crowd closed in on his vehicle. With the help of market leadership, he managed to leave without physical altercation.

“I was not beaten,” he clarified in the video, addressing rumors circulating on social media. “There are things you cannot do here. You can go to the Southeast and carry on as you wish, but not in Lagos.”

Igbokwe expressed hope that such incidents do not occur again, emphasizing that he is aware of how to handle such situations. The full video of the incident can be viewed on his Facebook page.
