Army begins renovation, development of 11 Brigade headquarters in Benue
The Nigerian Army has initiated a renovation and infrastructure development project at the headquarters of the 11 Brigade located in Gboko, Benue State. This endeavor aims to enhance the Army’s operational capacity and overall presence in the region.
Major General Moses Gara, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 5 Division, announced the project during an operational visit to the brigade. During his visit, Gara evaluated the accommodation facilities and took stock of the ongoing development initiatives at the brigade headquarters.
He was accompanied by Brigadier General M.D. Abdulsalam, Garrison Commander of the 5 Division in Makurdi, along with other senior officers from the division and the Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Stroke (JTF OPWS).
The assessment included a review of the welfare of personnel and an evaluation of the brigade’s preparedness to fulfill its security responsibilities in the area of operation. Emphasis was placed on the progress of the renovation work and the need for essential facilities to bolster the effectiveness of the troops stationed there.
Gara praised Brigadier General A.O. Odubiyi, the Brigade Commander, for upholding the necessary standards within the formation. He also encouraged officers and soldiers to demonstrate professionalism, dedication, and commitment to their duties, particularly in the Army’s mission to maintain peace and security within the area.
This development follows the recent approval by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the establishment of the new 5 Division, part of a broader effort to expand and strengthen the Nigerian Army’s security presence nationwide.
