Artists are broke, just famous – Akon claims

Akon Highlights Financial Challenges Faced by Musicians
Senegalese-American singer Akon has shed light on the financial realities faced by many artists, stating that they often do not possess the wealth that is commonly perceived.
In an interview with “Hip Hop Eye,” Akon emphasized that while music can be a lucrative industry, the majority of profits do not go to the artists. He noted that executives and individuals behind the scenes typically earn more than the performers themselves.
“In the music industry, the artist is the last to get paid,” Akon remarked. “He is the broke one but he is the most famous. If you want to be broke and famous, be the artist.”
Akon continued, encouraging aspiring music professionals to consider alternative careers within the industry. “If you want to make real money, look to other sectors of the music business, such as producers, songwriters, managers, agents, and attorneys,” he advised. “There are numerous opportunities in the entertainment field where you can truly maximize your earnings.”
