DEVELOPING STORY,

Authorities say the suspected shooter was found dead and six people were injured, including officer.

At least five people have been killed in a mass shooting at a bank in Louisville, Kentucky, police have confirmed, saying that the suspected shooter has also been found dead.

The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) said on Monday that there was no longer an “active aggressor threat” after initially urging people to stay out of the area. Six people have been injured, including an officer, authorities said.

“The shooter was confirmed to be dead on the scene. We do not know exactly the circumstances of his death at this time,” LMPD Deputy Chief Paul Humphrey told reporters.

Police said they received reports of a shooter around 8:30 am (12:30 GMT) at the Old National Bank and officers were “on scene within minutes”, the LMPD tweeted.

Video from the scene showed officers and ambulances in the street.

“LMPD has confirmed a shooting situation in downtown Louisville with multiple casualties. I am headed there now. Please pray for all of the families impacted and for the city of Louisville,” Governor Andy Beshear tweeted earlier.

The FBI said it was also sending agents to the scene.
