Atiku Abubakar Mourns Veteran Actor Kola Oyewo
Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), expressed his condolences following the death of veteran actor Kola Oyewo, who passed away on Friday. The news was confirmed by his son, Adetoyese Oyewo.
In a statement posted on his social media account on Saturday, Abubakar referred to Oyewo as a “legendary thespian and scholar of African drama.” He highlighted Oyewo’s significant contributions to the theatre, noting that his portrayal of King Lapite in the acclaimed film “Saworoide” showcased his immense talent.
“Theatre Arts has lost an irreplaceable figure,” Abubakar stated. “He will be deeply missed by enthusiasts of African narratives worldwide.”
Abubakar extended his sympathies to Oyewo’s family and fans, paying tribute to the actor as an exceptional dramatist and educator advocating for social conscience. “May his soul rest in peace,” he added.
