AVA Capital Plc to List on Nigerian Exchange

AVA Capital Plc, an integrated financial services group engaged in investment banking, asset management, securities trading, and trusteeship, will officially list on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) through a Listing by Introduction on Friday.
According to a statement released to Vanguard, this listing marks a strategic move into the public market aimed at enhancing the company’s institutional profile without the intention of raising new capital.
Olukayode Fadahunsi, Managing Director of AVA Capital Plc, stated that the company’s admission to the Nigerian Exchange signifies a natural advancement in its evolution as a long-standing institution. “We’re entering the public market with a solid foundation, an established platform, and a commitment to transparency,” he said.
Fadahunsi emphasized that the listing is designed to solidify AVA Capital’s role in Nigeria’s financial landscape and support long-term growth. He noted, “The public markets expect us to be open, disciplined, and responsible. We view these as strengths that will help institutions grow stronger over time.”
The listing takes place amid increasing emphasis on corporate governance, transparency, and wider participation in Nigeria’s financial services sector. Fadahunsi pointed out that AVA Capital meets the Exchange’s free-float requirement, with approximately 20 percent of its issued shares held by investors outside the controlling shareholder structure.
“This admission represents an institutional progression, aligning us more closely with the governance and disclosure standards expected of publicly listed companies while expanding access for investors,” he stated.
He clarified that since no new shares will be issued, the importance of the listing will be evaluated based on market participation, investor engagement, and the company’s capacity to generate long-term value.
Fadahunsi concluded that the listing of homegrown financial institutions like AVA Capital reflects a broader trend toward enhanced corporate governance and greater institutional involvement in Nigeria’s economy as the capital market continues to evolve.
