Ballon d’Or 2026: ‘He has earned the right’ – Santi Cazorla on award winner
Santi Cazorla, a former Arsenal midfielder, has endorsed Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal as a strong candidate for this year’s Ballon d’Or.
Cazorla, speaking to SPORT, praised the 19-year-old Spanish international’s performance, stating, “I would give the Ballon d’Or to Lamine. He plays for our country, he is Spanish, and he has more than earned the right to win it.”
Yamal has emerged as one of the leading contenders for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, following a series of impressive performances for both Barcelona and the Spanish national team. However, he faces significant competition from Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane and Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé for the prestigious award.
