Bandits kill NSCDC officer, abduct daughter, others in Kogi attack

Gunmen attacked the Odo-Ere community in Kogi State on Monday night, resulting in the death of Ayo Olukotun, a member of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). During the incident, the assailants also abducted Olukotun’s daughter and several other residents.
Witnesses reported the attack began around 8:30 PM, with gunfire causing widespread panic as community members fled for safety. The attackers gained entry into Olukotun’s home, where they shot him before kidnapping his daughter and others, taking them into a nearby forest.
According to a community source, Olukotun was transported to a hospital following the assault but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
