Bauchi car wash worker allegedly stabs colleague to death over money

BAUCHI, Nigeria — A 40-year-old man named Sallau Inuwa, also known as Liman Katagum, was arrested by police for allegedly stabbing his colleague to death during a dispute over car wash charges.
The incident reportedly took place around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday at a car wash in Bauchi metropolis. Authorities said Inuwa became embroiled in an argument with Ibrahim, 45, regarding the fees charged for washing vehicles.
According to the Bauchi State Police Command, the altercation escalated when Inuwa allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed Ibrahim multiple times. Ibrahim was subsequently transported to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Following reports of the altercation, officers from the ‘A’ Division in Bauchi initiated a search for the suspect. It was discovered that Inuwa had fled to his paternal home in Liman Katagum, prompting police to notify officers in the area. He was arrested shortly thereafter at Mararraban Liman Katagum.
Inuwa is currently in police custody and is undergoing an investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi in anticipation of prosecution.
Bauchi State Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu expressed sorrow over the incident, noting that a disagreement over money had resulted in tragedy. He extended his condolences to the family of the deceased and urged community members to resolve conflicts peacefully instead of resorting to violence.
In a statement released on Friday, police spokesman SP Nafiu Habib highlighted the commissioner’s stance that no provocation could justify taking another person’s life.
