Bauchi man arrested for allegedly stabbing colleague to death over car wash proceeds

Bauchi State Police have arrested a 40-year-old man, identified as Sallau Inuwa, also known as Liman Katagum, for allegedly stabbing his colleague, Ibrahim, to death during a dispute over financial matters related to a car wash business.
The incident occurred on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at a car wash in Bauchi metropolis, where the two men reportedly argued over the pricing for washing a vehicle. According to a statement from the police, the disagreement escalated when Inuwa allegedly armed himself with a knife and fatally stabbed Ibrahim multiple times.
Despite attempts to save him, Ibrahim was pronounced dead at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi.
Following the report of the stabbing, police operatives from the A Division commenced an investigation. Preliminary findings suggested that Inuwa fled to his family home in the Liman Katagum area after the incident. Police alerted the Divisional Police Officer in Liman Katagum, which led to a coordinated operation that resulted in Inuwa’s arrest at Mararraban Liman Katagum.
Bauchi State Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu expressed concern over the incident and described it as a tragic loss stemming from a financial dispute. He extended condolences to Ibrahim’s family and urged the public to handle conflicts through dialogue and lawful means instead of resorting to violence. Aliyu emphasized that no situation justifies taking another person’s life.
Inuwa remains in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi, where investigations are ongoing in anticipation of his prosecution.
