Bauchi Police Arrest Man Over Alleged Rape of Minor

BAUCHI—The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended a 20-year-old man, Mujahid Danjuma, in connection with the alleged rape of a seven-year-old girl in the Dass Local Government Area.

Police officials reported that Danjuma was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, October 13, after he reportedly fled the scene of the incident. His capture followed an extensive search by police operatives.

According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the incident was initially reported on September 28 by the victim’s mother, a 30-year-old resident of the Bundot area in Dass LGA. The mother claimed the assault occurred on September 25 around 5 p.m., when Danjuma allegedly lured the girl into an uncompleted building and sexually assaulted her.

“The victim was rushed to General Hospital Dass, where an examination confirmed penetration,” the police statement indicated.

Following the alleged assault, Danjuma fled to an undisclosed location. His arrest was made possible through intelligence-led policing and the persistent efforts of local operatives.

As of Tuesday, Danjuma remains in police custody. Authorities plan to transfer him to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi for further investigation and potential prosecution.

Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu emphasized the command’s commitment to addressing crime and safeguarding vulnerable individuals in the state. He urged parents and guardians to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to local police.

Investigations into the case are ongoing.
