Bauchi Police Arrest Woman in Stepson’s Death
BAUCHI, Nigeria – The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested Fatima Ibrahim in connection with the death of her six-year-old stepson, Mubarak Ibrahim, in the Kwaimawa community of Alkaleri Local Government Area.
Police Public Relations Officer SP Nafi’u Habib reported on Monday that the child began vomiting uncontrollably shortly after consuming a beverage reportedly given to him by Ibrahim. Following the incident, family members took the boy to the Primary Health Care Centre in Kwaimawa, where he was later transferred to the Federal Medical Centre in Gombe for further treatment.
Medical personnel worked to save Mubarak’s life for eight days. However, he was pronounced dead on October 24, 2026.
The arrest of Fatima Ibrahim followed a report made by the Village Head of Kwaimawa, which prompted police detectives to investigate the circumstances of the child’s death. Ibrahim has since been remanded in police custody as the investigation continues.
Commissioner of Police CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu expressed his condolences, calling the incident heartbreaking and inhumane. He assured the grieving family that the police would seek justice in the case.
