Bauchi Police Arrest Woman on Drug Charges, Two Others for Robbery and Homicide

Bauchi, Nigeria — The Bauchi State Police Command arrested a 28-year-old woman and two other individuals in separate operations linked to drug possession and serious crimes, including armed robbery and culpable homicide.

Police spokesman SP Nafiu Habib announced the arrests in a statement on Tuesday. The operations took place within a 24-hour period.

The woman, identified as Sara Chikodi, was apprehended in the Bayan Gari area of Bauchi on October 19 at approximately 7 p.m. based on credible intelligence. During a search, authorities recovered 10 sachets of dried leaves believed to be Colorado, or Indian hemp, along with a small amount of methamphetamine, commonly referred to as Ice.

Habib indicated that the investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to identify and apprehend her suspected supplier as well as to dismantle the broader drug distribution network.

In a separate incident, police arrested 22-year-old Zakariya’u Musa for allegedly robbing three secondary school students along Old Airport Road in the Gidan Gona locality. The suspect, along with two accomplices — identified as Abdul’aziz, known as Carlos, and another suspect known as Jagwa — allegedly lured the students into an isolated area where they threatened them with a knife and stole two mobile phones valued at 50,000 Naira.

Following the incident, the victims raised an alarm that led to Musa’s arrest, while his accomplices remain at large. Habib confirmed that police are intensifying efforts to locate the fleeing suspects.

Additionally, a 20-year-old man, Isa Moh’d, was arrested in connection with the alleged murder of Salim Moh’d. The suspect was taken into custody on October 19 at around 1:20 p.m., one day after he reportedly stabbed the victim during a dispute. Habib noted that Moh’d would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry and potential prosecution.

Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu praised the officers for their swift actions and encouraged the public to continue providing credible information to aid in crime prevention efforts. He also warned criminals against operating in Bauchi State and assured residents that the police command is committed to protecting lives and property.
