Bauchi State Police Command Launches Investigation into Officer’s Salary Complaint
The Bauchi State Police Command has initiated a thorough investigation following a complaint from Corporal Yusuf Aliyu, who reported difficulties accessing his salary for nearly two years.
Aliyu, who holds the Police Force Number 524180, announced his resignation on social media, citing his inability to receive his salary as the primary reason for his decision. In his post, he indicated that he could no longer serve under conditions where he was allegedly denied his rightful earnings.
On September 3, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, issued a statement indicating that initial inquiries revealed the officer’s salary payments had been made regularly. The Command attributed the issue to a discrepancy involving Aliyu’s Bank Verification Number (BVN), noting that the name associated with the BVN did not match the name on his salary account, leading to the payment restrictions.
Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu directed the investigation to clarify the circumstances surrounding the officer’s bank account issues. The Command expressed concern over Aliyu’s decision to air his grievances publicly, stating that he should have utilized established internal mechanisms for addressing complaints.
“The Command notes with concern that the officer resorted to the use of social media to ventilate his grievance and announce a purported resignation, rather than exploiting the established internal mechanisms for redress,” the statement read. Officials characterized this behavior as a violation of the Nigeria Police Force Social Media Policy, suggesting it sought to undermine the Command and the Force.
The Commissioner reassured officers that their welfare remains a priority, emphasizing that all legitimate complaints will be addressed. “No genuine complaint will be left unattended,” CP Aliyu stated, urging personnel to utilize proper administrative channels for filing grievances.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to discipline, professionalism, and the welfare of its officers.
