Boko Haram kills Maiduguri businessman, abducts four farmers in Borno

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have killed a businessman, Alhaji Gana, on his farmland in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

The incident occurred on Sunday, November 5, 2023, when the Maiduguri based businessman was harvesting beans in his farm.

According to Daily Trust, the terrorists also forcefully abducted his four co-workers. 

A family source said Gana was shot dead when he tried to resist being kidnapped.

“Other nearby farmers who witnessed the incident from a distance said they saw him grappling with the gunmen for some time before he was overpowered by his assailants,” the source said. 

“The gunmen invaded the farm, rounded up the workers, and attempted to kidnap them. Alhaji Gana, who reportedly resisted the assailants, got shot. The attackers reportedly kidnapped four other individuals, leaving Alhaji-Gana’s body at the farm,” 

Another family member, Abdul Mohammed said that Alhaji Gana left Maiduguri on Sunday morning to oversee the harvest at his Bama farm, where he tragically lost his life.

“He informed his wife he was going to bring back some of the beans being harvested from his farm. Few hours later, they were called that he was killed by insurgents”
