LAGOS, Nigeria — Popular Nigerian content creator Brain Jotter took to social media to describe a distressing encounter he had with local touts, commonly referred to as “agberos,” in Lagos.
In an Instagram post, Brain Jotter detailed the harassment he experienced while in his car on a busy road. He shared a video that captures the moment a group of individuals surrounded his vehicle, demanding money before allowing him to pass.
In the footage, one of the touts can be heard confidently declaring, “I be lion,” during the encounter.
Expressing his dismay at the situation, Brain Jotter commented on the incident, which he deemed reflective of broader issues within society. “Lion no dey use eyes see goat,” he remarked, highlighting the challenges of wildlife management in Nigeria. “We lack good wildlife and they let a lion escape from their zoo. This is sad.”
The incident has sparked conversations about the ongoing issue of harassment by touts in Lagos, raising concerns about safety and the rule of law in the bustling city.
