Call Igboho to order – Fulani group urges Tinubu, Makinde

Fulani Group Urges Leaders to Address Sunday Igboho’s Remarks
A socio-cultural organization representing the Fulani community in Nigeria has called on President Bola Tinubu and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to address remarks made by Yoruba nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho. The Concerned Fulani People of Nigeria expressed concern over what they termed “inflammatory remarks” directed at Fulani communities in Oyo State.
The call came in a statement released by the group’s Convener, Ibrahim Barkindo Chubado, following reports that Igboho issued a two-hour ultimatum to Fulani leaders in the state. This ultimatum was reportedly linked to the alleged abduction of a woman and her children.
Igboho threatened to take action against those he believed were responsible for the abduction if the victims were not released within the specified timeframe. He also indicated his intention to confront suspected kidnappers in a forest reserve purportedly used as a hideout.
In response, Chubado cautioned against associating the Fulani ethnic group with criminal activities, stating that such profiling could escalate ethnic tensions and hinder efforts toward peace and security. He emphasized that the Fulani people do not support terrorism, banditry, or kidnapping, asserting that criminal acts should not be attributed to an entire ethnic group.
The group argued that Fulani communities nationwide comprise law-abiding individuals who should not face collective blame for the actions of a few. Chubado highlighted a troubling trend of linking Fulani communities to criminal behavior without sufficient evidence, warning that these generalizations could incite further animosity and violence.
While acknowledging that criminal elements exist among various ethnic groups, the group maintained that individuals should be judged on their actions, not their ethnicity or religion. They reiterated their call for authorities to hold Igboho accountable for his statements.
