Chris Brown gets eight-month suspended prison sentence in UK

Singer Chris Brown Sentenced for Affray in London Incident
LONDON — Chris Brown, 37, was sentenced on Monday, October 26, 2026, at Southwark Crown Court after pleading guilty to affray in July. The court issued a 12-month suspended sentence, meaning Brown will not serve time in prison unless he violates the terms of the suspension.
The case arose from an incident at Tape nightclub in Mayfair, central London, where Brown struck 29-year-old Diaw multiple times on the head with a glass tequila bottle, resulting in injuries to both his head and knee.
Prosecutors presented CCTV evidence during the proceedings, which showed Brown and his vocal coach, Omololu Akinlolu, 40, participating in the altercation. Akinlolu was also sentenced to four months in prison, with his sentence similarly suspended for 12 months. In addition, both men were ordered to pay £1,500 in costs.
During the sentencing, Judge Tony Baumgartner condemned the attack as dangerous, highlighting the potential for severe injury when using a glass bottle as a weapon. He also noted that Brown’s commercial success would not influence the court’s decision-making process.
This incident led to Brown’s arrest in Manchester in May 2025, shortly after he returned to the UK for a concert. Initially facing charges of assault and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm, Brown ultimately pleaded guilty to affray, prompting prosecutors to drop the more serious allegations.
