Chris Okafor: Actress Doris Ogala’s absence stalls trial

Nigerian Actress Doris Ogala’s Arraignment Delayed Due to Court Absence
The arraignment of Nigerian actress Doris Ogala was postponed at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, due to her failure to appear.
Ogala faces four counts related to the alleged publication of personal materials belonging to Pastor Chris Okafor, the founder of Grace Nation Bible Ministry. The charges also include cyberbullying, harassment, attempted extortion, and the dissemination of false information intended to harm the cleric’s reputation.
During a hearing on Thursday, prosecuting counsel Tolulope Mokuola requested a bench warrant to compel Ogala’s attendance, citing her absence despite receiving a hearing notice.
In response, defense attorney Temiloluwa Akindayini informed the court that Ogala underwent surgery on Tuesday and is currently recovering in Abia State. Akindayini stated that an affidavit detailing Ogala’s medical condition was submitted to the court on April 22, 2026.
Mokuola contested the defense’s claims, noting that they had not served the affidavit to the prosecution and failed to notify them in advance about the surgery.
Justice Akintayo Aluko ruled against the prosecutor’s request for a bench warrant. He ordered that Ogala must appear in court for her arraignment on June 9, 2026. The judge mandated that the actress present a verifiable medical report from a government hospital and serve it to the prosecution before the next scheduled appearance.
It is noteworthy that Ogala has previously accused Pastor Okafor of criminal conduct and threatened to release damaging evidence against him.
