Cross River Police Arrest Fake Doctor Over Alleged UCTH Job Scam

Cross River State Police Arrest Man Posing as Doctor
The Cross River State Police Command has detained a 39-year-old man, Udeme Emmanuel Ekpeme, for allegedly impersonating a medical doctor and operating an illegal mobile clinic.
Ekpeme’s arrest occurred after a complaint from Mrs. Edemawan Samuel, who reported that he defrauded her of ₦500,000 under the pretense of securing employment for her children at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH). Officers from the Uwanse Division in Calabar South apprehended him following this report.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Ekpeme falsely represented himself as a medical professional to solicit money from unsuspecting individuals. Law enforcement officials have recovered various medical instruments and materials purportedly connected to these offenses.
In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Cross River State has mandated a thorough investigation to assess the full scope of Ekpeme’s activities and determine if additional victims exist.
Ekpeme remains in police custody and will face charges in court if sufficient evidence is gathered during the investigation.
Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected cases of fraud or impersonation to the nearest police station.
