Crude Oil Leads Imports at Lekki Deep Sea Port in Early August

Lekki Deep Sea Port saw a significant influx of crude oil and refined petroleum products in the first week of August, with a total of 1,867,712 metric tonnes of such products being imported into the country, according to shipping documents analyzed by Vanguard.
As of August 10, 2026, imports of petroleum products accounted for the majority of activities at the port. Key among these were aviation fuel, Automated Gas Oil (AGO), and Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly referred to as petrol.
A detailed review of the incoming shipments revealed that 1,525,612 metric tonnes of crude oil were brought into the port, designated for distribution throughout Nigeria. Notably, aviation fuel comprised the largest segment of this volume, totaling 245,600 metric tonnes, followed closely by AGO, which amounted to 104,000 metric tonnes. There were no recorded entries of crude oil imports during this reporting period.
Additionally, the import data included 99,000 metric tonnes of Bulk Urea, highlighting the diversity of products handled at the facility.
In related news, the Lagos Port Complex (LPC) reported that Bulk Wheat was the leading import, with a total of 176,243 metric tonnes arriving during the first two weeks of August.
