Kebbi State Customs Officers Killed in Confrontation with Bandits

Two customs officers were reportedly killed on Wednesday during a confrontation with suspected bandits, identified as Lakurawa terrorists, in Kebbi State. The incident occurred in broad daylight in the Bagudu Local Government Area.

Bashir Adeniyi, the Comptroller-General of Customs, confirmed the fatalities at the fourth biennial international conference held by the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences at the University of Ilorin. The officers, Assistant Superintendent Bamigboye and Deputy Superintendent Dom, were engaged in security operations at two checkpoints when the attack transpired.

Adeniyi expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the officers, emphasizing their vital role alongside military forces in maintaining security in border communities. “This morning, two officers of the Nigeria Customs Service paid the supreme sacrifice while warding off threats from Lakurawa terrorists in Kebbi,” he stated.

The Comptroller-General reassured the public that the deaths would not deter the Nigeria Customs Service from its mission to combat criminal networks operating along Nigeria’s borders.
