Davido Breaks Silence After Grammy Loss

Nigerian Singer Davido Reflects on Grammy Loss Amid Strong Competition
Nigerian artist Davido spoke out after he did not secure a win at the 2026 Grammy Awards, which took place on Sunday, February 1. His song “With You,” featuring Omah Lay, was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category.
Following the event, Davido shared photos on Instagram accompanied by the message, “Oluwa Dey My Side.”
The award for Best African Music Performance went to South African singer Tyla for her song “Push 2 Start.” Other notable nominees in the category included Burna Boy with “Love,” Ayra Starr and Wizkid with “Gimme Dat,” and Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin with “Hope & Love.”
Despite a strong representation from Nigerian artists, none of the nominees from the country claimed a win. This category was established to highlight African music on a global stage, and this year’s nominations underscored Nigeria’s significant influence, with three artists making the final list.
Tyla’s recent victory marks her second win in this category; she previously won in 2024 with her song “Water,” becoming the first artist to achieve this recognition. At just 24 years old, Tyla has gained acclaim for her unique blend of amapiano, pop, and R&B sounds.
