Chioma Adeleke Responds to Criticism Over Grammy Awards Attire

Chioma Adeleke, wife of Nigerian singer Davido, has addressed a critic’s comment regarding her attire at the 68th Grammy Awards. The event took place Sunday night at the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles, where Davido was nominated for Best African Music Performance. He attended the ceremony alongside Chioma, his elder sister Sharon Adeleke, and other guests.

Making her debut at the prestigious event, Chioma wore a sheer dress that attracted considerable attention and backlash on social media. Despite the criticism, she shared photos of the evening on Instagram late Monday, showcasing moments with her husband.

In response to her post, a follower advised Chioma not to wear the outfit again, stating, “Nne, no wear this cloth again inugo. However, your husband loves you o.” Chioma replied, affirming her intention to wear the dress again.

Further commentary on her attire came from Ossai Success, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Governor of Delta State, who criticized Chioma’s outfit as inappropriate for the event. In a Facebook post, he expressed disappointment, suggesting that her choice of clothing did not adequately represent Nigerian culture and could negatively impact young Nigerians.
