Delta police impound 26 vehicles without registered numbers, other offences

Delta State Police Enforce Ban on Unregistered Vehicles
ASABA, Nigeria — The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, announced the initiation of a crackdown on vehicles operating without proper registration plates, as well as those with concealed, altered, or unreadable plates. This enforcement action targets Asaba and surrounding areas.
The police department emphasized that the operation aims to enhance public safety, bolster crime prevention efforts, and improve vehicle identification for security purposes.
As a result of the enforcement initiative, law enforcement officials impounded 26 vehicles found in violation of current registration regulations. The affected motorists were subsequently brought before a Mobile Court in Asaba to face charges related to these offenses.
During the operation, Oyeniyi encouraged vehicle owners to adhere to registration requirements and display approved number plates appropriately. He underscored the importance of this enforcement in fostering greater security and ensuring legal compliance.
Additionally, Oyeniyi warned that the police will maintain this operation throughout Delta State. He instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations to guarantee strict adherence to this directive across all Area Commands, Divisions, and tactical units.
