DG DSS Tosin Ajayi most professional security chief in Nigeria’s history – Okai

Public Affairs Analyst Praises DSS Director-General for Professionalism

Abuja — Comrade Usman Okai Austin, a public affairs analyst, has lauded Mr. Oluwatosin Ajayi, the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), as the most professional security chief in the history of Nigeria’s secret service.

In a statement released in Abuja, Okai highlighted the discipline and efficiency Ajayi has introduced since assuming leadership of the agency. He noted that the DSS has moved away from public confrontations and is now concentrating on intelligence-driven operations aimed at preemptively addressing security threats.

“Mr. Oluwatosin Ajayi stands out as a thoroughbred professional security strategist,” Okai commented. “Under his leadership, the DSS is rebuilding public trust by prioritizing intelligence gathering, operational discretion, and respect for the rule of law.”

Okai pointed to several key improvements within the agency under Ajayi’s direction. He emphasized the focus on covert operations aimed at thwarting threats before they materialize, which has helped to alleviate public concerns. Additionally, he noted enhanced collaboration with military and police forces, as well as international partners, to address cross-border security issues.

“Ajayi has introduced modern technology to combat digital threats, various crimes, and attacks on critical infrastructure,” Okai stated. “His commitment to human rights and the total cessation of arbitrary arrests and detentions have earned him national and international acclaim.”

He further remarked on the reduced instances of unnecessary public confrontations, the alignment of operations with legal standards, and improvements in training and welfare for field officers and staff.

Okai emphasized that effective security management requires experienced professionals who understand the internal dynamics of the service, rather than political interference. “Ajayi rose through the ranks, and that background shows in his leadership,” he said. “He has kept the agency out of politics and restored its reputation as an elite intelligence body focused on national security.”

Okai urged the DSS chief to continue this professional approach, asserting that a discreet and competent intelligence service is Nigeria’s best defense against internal security challenges.
