Disney’s ‘Lilo & Stitch’ voice actress Daveigh Chase dies at 35

Actress Daveigh Chase Dies at 35

Daveigh Elizabeth Chase, best known for her role as Lilo in Disney’s animated film Lilo & Stitch, has died at the age of 35. Her manager, John Ryan Jr., confirmed the news to BBC News.

Chase was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital on Wednesday due to malnourishment. Ryan reported that she later succumbed to sepsis after a bout of meningitis.

“She was the greatest. She loved cats and was involved in cat rescue work,” said Ryan, who had been Chase’s manager and friend for 15 years. “She preferred a quiet life over the Hollywood lifestyle, often choosing to dine at Bob’s Big Boy and spend time with her pets instead of pursuing fame.”

Born on July 24, 1990, Chase began her acting career at the age of 4 and landed her first Hollywood role at 7. She stepped back from full-time acting in 2015.

Chase gained fame for her performance in the horror film The Ring and continued to voice Lilo in various projects within the Disney franchise. In 2003, she received an Annie Award for her role in Lilo & Stitch.

In June 2026, Chase was hospitalized for severe malnutrition following significant weight loss. During her treatment, her health deteriorated after being diagnosed with meningitis and several systemic bloodstream infections. Medical professionals indicated that her prognosis was poor.
