Naira Strengthens Against Dollar at Official Exchange Market
The naira appreciated against the dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Monday, marking a positive start to the week and the month of August.
According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria, the naira strengthened to 1,364.83 per dollar, an increase from 1,368.22 per dollar on Friday. This represents a gain of 3.39 naira against the dollar compared to the end of trading last week.
In contrast, the black market exchange rate for the naira remained stable at 1,425 per dollar on Monday, unchanged from Friday’s rate.
This development occurs as Nigeria’s foreign reserves are reported to stand at $51.92 billion, as per the central bank’s figures.
It is noteworthy that the naira experienced a week-long depreciation prior to the recent gains.
