Don Jazzy debunks prioritising some artists in his label over others

Don Jazzy Addresses Allegations of Favoritism at Mavin Records
Music executive Michael Collins Ajereh, known widely as Don Jazzy, has refuted claims that Mavin Records prioritizes select artists over others regarding promotional support and opportunities.
In a recent episode of the Crea8torium podcast, Jaszy emphasized the illogical nature of such allegations, stating that it would be counterproductive for a record label to invest in an artist only to neglect them in favor of another.
He attributed some of the perceived disparities to individual artists who may not be actively releasing music or making headlines, suggesting that their career choices influence their visibility rather than any bias from the label.
Jazzy further discussed the mental health challenges that some artists may face, citing imposter syndrome and overthinking as factors that contribute to their feelings of neglect. “We often receive comments suggesting that we do not prioritize certain artists, but that is not the case,” he said. “It’s as if I would simply throw our resources away. We invest in our artists to ensure mutual success.”
He clarified that any artist who publishes only a limited number of songs in a year is doing so by their own choice. “If an artist has multiple songs ready for release, we are prepared to support them,” Jazzy noted. “Many of them struggle with self-doubt and anxiety, which is normal. However, the notion that we prioritize one artist over another is unfounded.”
