Don Jazzy reveals his problem with Ayra Starr, other GenZ artists

Don Jazzy Discusses Challenges with Gen Z Artists at Mavin Records
Michael Collins Ajereh, widely known as Don Jazzy, has shared insights into the difficulties he faces when working with Gen Z artists under his label, Mavin Records.
During a recent episode of the podcast “Who’s In The House,” the renowned music executive highlighted a primary concern: many of these young artists appear reluctant to actively promote their music on social media. He noted that their focus on maintaining aesthetically pleasing pages often outweighs their willingness to share their work.
Don Jazzy mentioned that this issue has led to disagreements, particularly with established artists. “I often find myself in discussions with my artists over their hesitance to showcase their musical content online,” he stated. He further revealed that even his niece, who is involved in entertainment, exhibits similar behaviors regarding social media promotion.
The music executive expressed confusion over a perceived notion among Gen Z that frequent self-promotion is inappropriate. He emphasized the importance of consistently sharing their work online. “Artists need to take every opportunity to display their talents,” he urged, specifically referencing singer Ayra Starr, who has cited feelings of imposter syndrome as a barrier to promotion.
