‘Don’t settle for men simply because they chose you’ – Damilola Adegbite tells single ladies

Nollywood actress Damilola Adegbite is advocating for single women to prioritize compatibility over mere selection when considering relationship or marriage proposals. In a recent episode of her podcast, which was shared on her YouTube channel, Adegbite emphasized that many women often accept offers from men simply because they are chosen, rather than evaluating if the relationship is a suitable fit.

“Ladies, don’t choose someone because they chose you. Choose someone because they are right for you; whether he’s younger, older, or exactly your age, the critical question is: Can we love, support, and build with each other?” Adegbite stated.

She highlighted that the focus should be on finding a true partner, rather than just meeting societal expectations. “At the end of the day, we are not looking for numbers. We are looking for a partner. And if that partner happens to be younger, that is also fine,” she added.

Adegbite also offered guidance to older women considering relationships with younger men. She stressed the importance of evaluating the emotional maturity and respectfulness of potential partners before making a decision.

“To the older woman, if a younger man is interested in you, please don’t make the mistake of choosing him simply because he makes you feel desirable,” she advised. “Choose him because he respects, supports, and makes you feel safe.”

Additionally, she urged women to ensure that any younger partner is serious about building a future and respects their life circumstances, including any children they may have. “Only choose him if he is emotionally mature and knows what he wants, respects your children and your life, and actually wants to build something with you,” she emphasized.
