Ebonyi council headquarters razed by arsonists

A section of Ezza North Local government area headquarters, Ebonyi state, was on Monday morning, October 10, razed by suspected arsonists.

 

The fire which destroyed valuable items and documents worth millions, was started by suspected arsonists numbering over 20.

 

Chairman of the local government, Ogodo Ali Nomeh told The Nation that the arsonists were resisted by the police and fled with bullet wounds afterward.

 

He said; 

 

“The fire destroyed new air conditioners bought for the renovation of the council, some documents and a generating set and some furniture.” 

 

Nomeh added that the community’s vigilante apparatus and security agencies are on the trail of the wounded arsonists.

 

The Chairman who revealed that they will be unearthed at the end of investigation by security agencies, said security has been beefed up at the council area to forestall a repeat of such incident.
