Edo Queens petition CAF over WAFU B Women’s Champions League final

Edo Queens have officially submitted a petition to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) requesting the annulment of the continuation of the WAFU B Women’s Champions League final against Ampem Darkoa Ladies FC of Ghana.
The appeal follows a match originally played on September 5, 2026, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, which ended in a 2-2 draw after regulation time. Edo Queens won the penalty shoot-out that followed, 4-1. However, in a decision dated September 26, 2026, CAF’s Organising Committee ruled that the penalty shoot-out had “no sporting effect.” The committee ordered that the match be resumed from the start of extra time at the 2-2 scoreline. This ruling was upheld by the CAF Appeal Board on October 16, 2026.
Edo Queens are challenging the continuation of the match on several grounds. They contend that the venue change from Ouagadougou to Cairo, Egypt, lacked proper authorization from WAFU B, which is contrary to CAF regulations. The club also expressed concerns about not being able to field eligible players who participated in the initial match and noted that their delegation was housed in a military base instead of a standard team hotel.
Additionally, the Nigerian champions have raised issues regarding inadequate official communication about the venue, kick-off time, and general match arrangements.
Edo Queens are calling on CAF to declare the planned continuation of the match on October 29 null and void. They have requested that either a full 90-minute replay be conducted at the original venue or that they be declared the winners of the WAFU Zone B tournament if a replay cannot be arranged prior to the start of the CAF Women’s Champions League on November 1, 2026.
