EFCC reveals plans for Maina’s son following DSS arrest

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of Faisal Maina, the son of Abdulrasheed Maina, the former chairman of the now-defunct Pension Reform Task Team.

EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale made the announcement on Saturday morning. He stated that a court order will be necessary to transfer Faisal Maina to a correctional facility where he is to serve his prison sentence.

“The necessary court order will be obtained to take him to the Correctional Centre for him to serve his sentence,” Oyewale said in response to inquiries.

Faisal Maina had been evading authorities since 2020 until he was apprehended by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Karsana, Abuja.

The EFCC previously arraigned Faisal Maina on charges of money laundering and conspiracy. After he failed to appear in court, the trial continued in his absence, resulting in a 14-year prison sentence in 2021.
