Effurun shooting: Spirituality only explanation for officer’s action – Police spokesman

Delta State Police Address Shooting Incident Involving Officer

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe provided insight into the recent shooting incident involving a police officer and a suspect. During an interview on Channels Television’s “The Morning Brief” on Wednesday, Edafe characterized the episode as a troubling moment for the police force.

The incident in question involved Assistant Superintendent of Police Nuhu Usman, who is accused of fatally shooting the suspect, identified as Mene Ogidi, in Effurun, Delta State.

“The issue at hand is a very sad one,” Edafe stated. “In my six years in public relations, this has been my most challenging moment, as it involves an incident that lacks clear explanation.”

He expressed difficulty in understanding the officer’s actions, stating, “I cannot comprehend what could have prompted such behavior. While the police do not typically attribute issues to spirituality, it might serve as a possible explanation for this particular incident.”

The police spokesperson emphasized that the force is taking the incident seriously as it continues to navigate the fallout from the shooting.
