El-Rufai’s influence made Tinubu Nigeria’s president – Dele Momodu
Dele Momodu, a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stated that President Bola Tinubu’s ascension to the presidency in 2023 may not have been possible without the substantial influence of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
Momodu made these remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s “Morning Brief” on Friday. As the Deputy Director-General of the ADC’s Presidential Campaign Media and Communications Directorate, he emphasized El-Rufai’s critical role in Tinubu’s political journey.
In the same interview, Momodu criticized the bail conditions imposed on El-Rufai, referring to them as “horrendous.” He expressed concern for the former governor’s situation, noting that his return to Nigeria, despite the anticipated repercussions, highlights his commitment to his political principles.
“El-Rufai is held down not because he has committed any crime,” Momodu said. “He could have stayed away from the country. He chose to come back, knowing he would be arrested.”
He further remarked on the severity of the bail conditions, suggesting that even those who oppose El-Rufai might question such treatment from a government he has supported.
“If not for him, I’m sure President Bola Tinubu would not be in office today,” Momodu concluded.
