EPL: Chelsea set to sanction first summer transfer under Alonso

Chelsea Set to Allow Filip Jorgensen Transfer Under New Manager Xabi Alonso

LONDON — Chelsea Football Club is poised to make its first transfer decision of the summer under new manager Xabi Alonso, as the club considers the sale of goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.

According to BBC Sport, Chelsea is receptive to offers for Jorgensen, who has expressed a desire to leave Stamford Bridge in search of more regular playing time. The 24-year-old goalkeeper joined Chelsea from Villarreal two seasons ago, but he has made only 11 Premier League appearances during his tenure.

Initially anticipated to compete for the starting position with Robert Sanchez, Jorgensen’s limited playing time has prompted his request for a transfer. Although Alonso’s arrival could alter his prospects, Jorgensen has made it clear that he seeks opportunities elsewhere.

Chelsea previously blocked a potential move for Jorgensen in the January transfer window, but the club’s stance appears to have shifted. Reports indicate that both European and English clubs may explore deals for the Danish international.
