Family of late Mr Ibu opens up of struggles after his death

Family of Late Nollywood Actor Mr. Ibu Faces Financial Hardship

The family of the late Nollywood actor and comedian John Ikechukwu Okafor, widely known as Mr. Ibu, has shared the challenges they have encountered since his death.

During a recent visit from content creator King Mitchy, the family revealed that Mr. Ibu’s only daughter and two sons have been forced to drop out of school due to ongoing financial difficulties.

They also indicated that for several weeks, they have been without electricity and running water, unable to pay the associated bills.

The children’s mother described the struggles they face. “We fetch water from the well because I have not paid the house rent. They cut off our electricity two months ago, and every night we go to look for where to charge our phones. It hasn’t been easy,” she said.

In a heartfelt appeal for help, Mr. Ibu’s daughter expressed gratitude for her mother’s efforts in supporting the family. “I want to thank God for my mom; she has tried everything she can to feed us and pay our school fees,” she said. “Nigerians, if you knew my dad in the industry, please come and meet us.”

With tears in her eyes, the children’s mother revealed that the school recently contacted her regarding the outstanding fees for her children.

Mr. Ibu passed away on March 2, 2024, in Lagos at the age of 62 after suffering a cardiac arrest. In November 2023, he underwent a leg amputation following a serious illness that required seven surgeries.
