FCT Police link woman, guest house workers to disposal of man’s body
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has established a connection between a woman and two employees of a guest house in Gwarimpa, Abuja, and the disposal of a man’s body discovered beneath Katampe Bridge.
Commissioner of Police Ahmed Sanusi made the announcement during a briefing at the command’s headquarters on Saturday.
The deceased was found along the Kubwa Expressway near Katampe on August 26, shortly after his family reported him missing. Sanusi noted that the discovery sparked speculation regarding the possibility that the man was a victim of kidnapping or a “one-chance” robbery.
In response, detectives investigated the circumstances surrounding the man’s disappearance after confirming the identity of the body matched that of the missing individual.
Investigators used the deceased’s mobile phone, which was absent from the body, to trace the last known activity to Rukayat Muhammed, a resident of Garki Area 2. Sanusi indicated that further investigation revealed Muhammed allegedly had a romantic relationship with the deceased and had saved his contact under the name “Safiyat.”
According to the commissioner, the two had stayed at the Good Samaritan Guest House on Second Avenue in Gwarimpa. Allegedly, Muhammed found the man unresponsive but did not notify authorities. Instead, she reportedly took his phone and left the guest house.
The situation came to light when the guest house management attempted to contact the occupants of the room but was unsuccessful. A subsequent entry into the room led to the discovery of the man’s body.
Sanusi stated that two guest house employees, Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, later moved the body from the room and transported it to the Katampe area of the Kubwa Expressway, where they abandoned it beneath the bridge.
The police have not yet determined the cause of death, and investigations continue to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
