Federal University Dutse expels 12 students, rusticates five
The Federal University Dutse (FUD) in Jigawa State has expelled 12 students and rusticated five others for various violations, including criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, cult-related activities, drug abuse, cyberbullying, and sexual assault.
The university announced the decision in a statement issued to DAILY POST, which was signed by spokesman Abdullahi Yahaya Bello.
The expulsions and rustications followed the review of cases presented at the 20th meeting of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee, as evaluated by Vice-Chancellor Professor Ahmad Mohammed Gumel.
According to the statement, the 12 expelled students faced charges that included criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, cult-related activities, phone theft, and drug abuse. Notably, six students were sanctioned for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery, while two others were found guilty of robbery and cult-related activities. Additionally, one student was expelled for phone theft and two others for drug abuse.
The students who received rustication were penalized for attempted sexual assault and cyberbullying. Four of these students will be away from campus for two semesters, while one student is rusticated for one semester.
Furthermore, the university issued warning letters to five additional students for offenses including cyberbullying, attempted sexual assault, and drug abuse that occurred off-campus.
These disciplinary actions were taken following a thorough examination of the cases by the Students’ Disciplinary Committee. The affected students represent various faculties and departments within the university.
