Foran dominates NRL newbies in massive win

Kieran Foran has starred in the Gold Coast Titans‘ final NRL pre-season tune-up in a comfortable win over its Queensland rival Dolphins.

The veteran playmaker was at his masterful best, pulling the strings to perfection as the Titans ran out 40-16 winners in Redcliffe.

21-year-old star Alofiana Khan-Pereira was unstoppable for the Titans, scoring four tries, while Jojo Fifita, Aaron Schoupp and Sam McIntyre also hit the scoreboard.

At the heart of it all was the 32-year-old Foran, the Titans’ star off-season recruit.

“I love the touches from the big off-season recruit, Kieran Foran, the first one a nice pass and then toying with them here, setting up another play out the back,” league legend Cooper Cronk said on Fox League’s coverage.

“He sums it up so quickly. He’s so calm,” Tigers icon Steve Roach added.

Foran, too, was impressed by his side’s outing, but lamented a second half which saw Connelly Lemuelu and Kurt Donoghoe record tries for the Dolphins.

“Pretty happy with how we started but gee we finished poorly,” he told Fox League.

“We did a fair bit of work on (the left edge) throughout the pre-season but you never know how it’s going to go until you go out and test it during a game.

“Things have gone well for us tonight but as we saw in that last 15 if we don’t hold the ball we don’t get down there.”

Justin Holbrook’s side will now shift its attention to round one, with a road match-up against the Wests Tigers on deck. The Dolphins will take on the Sydney Roosters in their first official NRL regular season match.
