Singer May D to Address Controversy Surrounding Okoye Family Dispute

Nigerian singer May D, a former artist under P-Square’s Square Records, has announced plans to discuss his experiences related to the ongoing controversy involving the Okoye family.

P-Square, formed by twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye, co-founded Square Records in 2005, under the management of their older brother Jude Okoye. The music duo disbanded in 2017 after a public fallout over financial and management issues. Following the split, Peter Okoye transitioned to a solo career known as Mr. P, while Paul Okoye adopted the name Rudeboy.

The brothers briefly reconciled in November 2021 but separated again in 2024 amid renewed conflicts and legal disputes. Peter Okoye accused Jude and Paul of misappropriating the group’s royalties, allegedly diverting funds to a company account co-owned by Jude and his wife.

As tensions escalated, Paul Okoye made comments that appeared to be directed at Peter, prompting accusations from Peter that his brother regularly engages in public controversies to undermine him. This back-and-forth has led to a series of allegations raised by Peter against both Jude and Paul.

In light of these developments, many Nigerians, including fellow musicians, have expressed support for Peter and encouraged the public to stream his music.

May D, who was signed to Square Records in 2011 but departed in 2012 due to irreconcilable differences, hinted via Instagram on Friday that he plans to provide his account of the situation, stating, “Mr May D Part 1 coming soon,” accompanied by a laughing emoji.
