Four NYSC corps members, two others die in Adamawa road accident

Tragic Road Accident in Adamawa Claims Six Lives

GIREI, Adamawa State — Four members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and two others were killed in a road accident on Wednesday involving a military gun truck and a commercial bus.

According to the Adamawa State Police Command, the incident occurred in the Narehi area of Girei Local Government Area along the Girei-Song Road. Suleiman Nguroje, the command’s spokesman, reported that a military gun truck traveling from Gombi to Yola collided head-on with a Hummer bus that was carrying five passengers from Yola to Mubi.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the collision caused the commercial bus to flip over and subsequently burst into flames. All five occupants of the Hummer bus died at the scene, and initial identification confirmed that four of the deceased were serving NYSC members stationed in Adamawa State.

The corps members were identified as Suleuman Juliet and Usman Shuaibu, both from Kaduna State. Efforts are underway to confirm the identities of the remaining victims.

The police also confirmed that one military personnel aboard the gun truck perished in the crash. The bodies have been transported to the Specialist Hospital in Yola, and authorities are working to identify the remaining deceased and notify their families.

The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State has expressed condolences to the grieving families, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and the NYSC, as well as all those affected by this tragic event.
