Veteran Nollywood actor Francis Duru has refuted claims circulating on social media suggesting he is afflicted with a terminal illness. The rumors gained momentum following the release of a video in which Duru appeared noticeably frail, alarming fans and fellow actors alike.
In an Instagram video addressing his audience, Duru asserted that he has never experienced such severe illness and termed the reports as the work of “merchants of darkness.” He thanked his supporters for their prayers and encouragement, emphasizing that he remains in good health.
“My dear fans, thank you all for always being there for me with your prayers and wishes,” Duru said. “I have never been that sick and would never be that sick. By God’s grace, I will continue to grow stronger.”
He further criticized those spreading negativity, stating, “They just don’t want to see people rise or believe in people’s success.” Duru encouraged his followers to disregard the rumors, urging, “Anything beyond this is their business.”
Despite the actor’s assurances, many fans took to the comments to voice their concerns regarding his appearance and recent weight loss. One user remarked, “You’re looking so slim and sound weak, divine healing upon you, sir,” while another expressed a similar sentiment, saying, “But you look sick… I pray God gives you healing in any area where you need it.”
