Friday Treat: Why It's Better In French | British Beauty Blogger

[unpaid/purchase/affiliate] I’ve just treated myself the the Mon Cheri sweater – unashamedly synthetic but hopefully lovely and soft and not in the least bit attractive to moths. I hide my cashmere away in a special bag, carefully returning every sweater to it as soon as I’ve stopped wearing it – that shmere doesn’t see the light of day unless its on my back! So, sometimes, a cheery, warm thing that I can leave in the wardrobe on a normal shelf (or the floor, I’ll be honest) is quite a treat to have.

Jumper

New Look isn’t somewhere I’d ordinarily shop, but it’s black and white and the logo is French which is what sealed the deal. Why do clothes look better with a bit of French writing? Maybe it’s just our natural assumption that anything French is more sophisticated although I’ve been to Paris many times and am always struck just how like the rest of us the people there look. French culture has always been widely admired but it has also been heavily idealized in film and TV and I think that just sticks with us. So, I’ve had a quick look at other items that are unashamedly using this notion and honestly, I’d have all of them in my wardrobe quite happily. The sweater is HERE for £27 – Size M and S left but looking through the comments M will easily fit a 14.

New Look Sweat

This oversize sweatshirt is also from New Look – I love lounge wear like this for days when it’s just too much effort to get dressed properly. I’d also probably wear this in bed for reading in the mornings when it’s cold – for that it would be bien ;-). It’s £24.99 HERE in sizes S,M,L and XL.

H&M Sweat

I know Monaco is its own principality but I love the idea of this with black leather look jeans or really just any jeans in general to elevate a casual look – chuck on all your gold bracelets and appear confident about knowing when the ski season starts and finishes. It’s at H&M for £21.99 HERE. It’s in sizes XS to XL.

H&M Sweat

See? That sporting league looks so much more appealing in French! I love this navy hoodie for being so simple and utilitarian but still managing to tap into our romantic assumptions about France. Get your trackie bottoms ready 🙂 It’s £27.99 HERE in sizes XS to XXL.

Finally, this navy sweatshirt with Paris Rue des Artistes (you can also find Place Vendome but I always wonder why H&M have never done a Rue Cambon sweatshirt, that I know of – probably all sorts of licencing held by Chanel because otherwise, why wouldn’t you?) which is just subtle and the essence of an easy wear. It’s £18.99 HERE in all sizes up to XL. I’d dress this up or down – tailored trousers, jeans or leggings and I’m suddenly thinking that polo necks under a sweatshirt can look pretty good.

I’m not here Monday.
