Everton Midfielder Toni Payne Nets First Goal for Super Falcons
Everton midfielder Toni Payne expressed her excitement after scoring her first goal for Nigeria’s national team, the Super Falcons. This achievement came during a friendly match against Senegal, where Nigeria secured a 2-1 victory on Friday night at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne.
Payne found the net just before halftime, doubling the lead established by Asisat Oshoala, who converted a penalty kick in the 32nd minute.
Following the match, the 31-year-old Payne shared her joy about scoring for the African champions after nearly five years. “I’m happy to score for the Falcons after almost five years, so it’s really good to do it here in Nigeria,” she stated.
Payne, who previously represented the United States at the youth level, has since made 46 appearances for Nigeria since switching her international allegiance.
