Friendly: Super Falcons outclass Senegal in dominant display

Super Falcons Defeat Senegal 3-0 in Friendly Match

IKENNE, Nigeria — The Super Falcons, the reigning African champions, secured a commanding 3-0 victory against Senegal in their second friendly match on Monday at Remo Stars Stadium.

Coached by Justine Madugu, the Super Falcons previously edged out Senegal 2-1 in their first friendly encounter last Friday.

Despite their dominant performance, the Nigerian team struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities in the first half. Forward Monday Gift had the first significant chance but her shot failed to challenge the Senegalese goalkeeper. Just two minutes later, Joy Omewa found herself in position to score after a pass from captain Rasheedat Ajibade, but her attempt hit the post.

In the 32nd minute, a missed opportunity arose once again due to miscommunication between Toni Payne and Ajibade, leaving Nigeria without a lead heading into halftime.

The breakthrough finally came four minutes into the second half, with Omewa nodding in the opening goal. She extended the lead with her second goal in the 55th minute, displaying a composed finish.

In the 63rd minute, Nigeria made a strategic double substitution, bringing on Asisat Oshoala and Folashade Ijamilusi for Rinsola Babajide and Omewa. Oshoala quickly made an impact, scoring the team’s third goal in the 66th minute after receiving an assist from Ajibade.

Although the Super Falcons created several additional chances, they were unable to further increase their advantage.
