Funke Akindele, Oby Ezekwesili, Ini Edo others attend Alex Ekubo’s service of songs
Lagos Event Honors Late Actor Alex Ekubo
Nollywood stars, gospel musicians, and dignitaries gathered to pay tribute to the late Alex Ekubo at a service of songs on Wednesday, June 10, at the Monarch Event Centre in Lekki, Lagos State.
The event attracted numerous public figures, including former Nigerian Minister of Education Oby Ezekwesili.
Prominent pastors, including Ituah Ighodalo and Jerry Eze, contributed to the ceremony, joined by gospel artists such as Peterson Okopi, Ebuka Songs, Moses Bliss, Mercy Chinwo, and the Laud Urban Choir.
Among the celebrities present were actresses Funke Akindele, Kate Henshaw, and Omoni Oboli, as well as actors Ike Ogbonna, Stan Nze, and Kunle Remi. Comedian AY and other notable figures, including Yomi Casual and Cubana Chief Priest, were also in attendance.
Alex Ekubo passed away on May 11, 2026, at a Lagos hospital after a prolonged battle with advanced kidney cancer.
He is scheduled to be laid to rest in his hometown of Ujari Village in Abia State on June 18, 2026.
