Fury calls out boxing megastars after Kiwi’s win

Tyson Fury has unleashed post-fight after Joseph Parker’s victory over Faiga ‘Django’ Opelu, declaring the former WBO heavyweight champion is on the rise yet again.

Parker was clinical, starting with a left uppercut and right cross during his assault on the Samoan with the referee stopping it midway through the first round.

The WBC heavyweight champion Fury was ecstatic ringside, watching as his friend Parker – the man he says he won’t fight – claimed victory.

“I thought it was a great performance, it just shows how hard Joe has been working in the gym,” he told Main Event.

“Fair play to Django he showed up and came to fight, there’s a lot of levels in boxing and Joe’s a world heavyweight champion former and he’s soon to be back there in my opinion.”

Fury then went on to list a number of possible opponents for Parker, even calling out nemesis Anthony Joshua in an expletive ridden statement.

“I’d like to see him fight maybe a rematch with Andy Ruiz, Joe Joyce or even Dillian Whyte or even AJ (Anthony Joshua),” he said.

“F–k them all, Joseph Parker is f—ing back on the map.”

While Parker didn’t name an opponent he’d like to face, the former champion said he’s available to “anyone” with trainer Andy Lee stating he can become second to Fury.

“He needs activity but he’ll be ready for anyone, he’s as good a heavyweight out there,” he said.

“This man behind us (Fury) is number one but he can be number two, he just needs activity, consistency and he’ll be there.”

Ex-AFL star on fight

Parker said the big first round win was all about getting back into form after he lost to Joshua and Whyte in 2018 and Joyce last year.

“I haven’t had the best performances of late but it was a statement and I want to fight as soon as I can,” he said.

“I want to keep busy, I need to get busy to keep momentum and get back to the top as fast as I can.”
